    Not a Rolex
I owned one of these for about two years, and ended up selling it on eBay. It impoverished down, and after a very expensive repair (had to send it back twice because they didn't get it right) I got rid of it. The found quality is simply not 'there.' The warranty is cheap, too, for such a pricey keep safe. Save your money and buy Rolex, although it's a lot more coin. They're built like a tank and have a seven-year pledge. It's the type of watch that you pass on to your kids. This Omega is definitely not.

Rolex also clench its value, Omegas do not. That definitely should tell you something.
    Part of Narration
I liked all the reviews here, avail and bad. It helped me decide that I wanted a classic that my son would have long after I'm gone. And he'd be proficient to get it fixed for decades to come if necessary. He just turned 2.

I sourced out some Polywatch at the same at the same time as the Omega. And yes, the hesalite does scuff easy. But Polywatch buffs out the scuffs wonderful easy using a cotton makeup remover pad.

My Moon be careful of keeps exceptional time. I forgot to wind it once on the first weekend but after that, each morning I act as if sure. After a month it's still on the same time as my Blackberry.

Thanks to everyone that took the age to write their review!

    Knockout
Enough said. It is a archetypal generations over and is definitely a keeper. Is not the most precise watch (precise enough in my conception but does lose time, but frankly more often forget to wind it than it in point of fact losing noticeable time) or the most functional (no date) but it is most rugged, dependable, and stylish than can be had at this consequence from any brand.
    Bad gaze at
This is a unpleasant watch. I bought mine 5 years ago and it's broken down 3 times. On two occassions it was out of assurance, so I had to pay over $500 to get it fixed. Maybe I got a dodgy one, but from the sounds of other reviews in here, I'm not the only one. Yes, it looks worth, but it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to service and it keeps terrible time. All in all a very bad buy. And by the way Omega servicing is useless. On both occassions it took them 6-8 weeks to accommodation my watch. My only hunch is that they get lots back, which really isn't a glowing reflection on the work.
A proud holder of the 40th limited edition (silver apollo)
I have never splurged on a hedonism watch before in my life. Up to date, my most expensive watch had been a Movado, one that I enjoyed wearing greatly for the last 3-4 years. Recently I stony it was time to invest in a timepiece that I would love, be very presentable in business, but not too gimcrack. Lastly, I wanted something that had good resale value instead of the me-toos that are now too commmon with so many models being released by every indulgence watch maker.

I ended up looking at the Moonwatch. I didn't get mine from Amazon - for that I am a first moment Omega buyer and didn't want to go with Grey market. I visited a DutyFreeShop in Singapore here last non-stop and they had the limited edition of this same watch - (only 7969 was made) which came with a attractive collectors case with a silver apollo coin and all the standards.
    [...]
I chose to buy this print run instead of the regular versions, and though it set me back >5Grand USD, I am amazed at how happy and proud I am as an proprietor of this timepiece.

The manual movement is great. I like winding this every day. The watchstore guy told me to do about 10 winds / day, and never overdo -it , or you'll break the pin. The small edition doesn't come in Sapphire crystal versions, which is nice given its aim as a collector's item that resembled the original moon watches.

If you fancy a great watch, I would def go for this. Sapphire will be good if you want to go everyday with it. As my is the meagre edition, I intend on only wearing it on special occasions and will revert back to my Movado (which has sapphire), at Rococo areas like the airports, where I had many times been bumped by people. Leave alone these situations with this type of watch, and I'm sure you will be able to enjoy it for years and years.

Lastly, the self-winding self-regulating has a great light ticking sound - I can already imagine my son wanting to embezzle this thing from me in the future as it is just way cool.

With the way our Fed is printing money like no tomorrow, this is something I would take in station of 5Grand of paper and enjoy for a lifetime.

Richer reconsider than a moon watch
I've had my 3211.30 for about 1 1/2 years now, and it is undoubtedly a keeper. While shopping, when comparing to the similar Day+Date model (i.e. I purchased from a friend-and-mortar AD), I found the simpler 'Day' version to be clearly superior when it comes to readability. I wouldn't ask that it is the most readable watch in the world (not sure I would agree with the previous remark on regarding the black+white Speedy Pro), but it is quite readable under almost all situation. Off the top of my head, here are the defining characteristics of this watch:

    1) The bracelet on this watch is the surpass I own, and in my opinion it competes well with any bracelet in the world regardless of price. Maybe not 'wins', but indubitably 'competes very well'.

    2) It keeps very good time (and is COSC certified). The last I checked, mine was about 2 seconds ease up per day.

    3) While understated in terms of size (40mm), this watch is somewhat shimmery. In a good way (except for worrying about scratching all of the various polished bits), but clearly shiny. The dial and markers are mesmerizing under bright sunlight. Don't look down while walking surface; you're bound to be hit by a bus.

    4) The Valjoux wobble. This watch has character coming out the wazoo. Bracelet, functional 5-minute markers, guilloche dial, ... and the characteristic 'wobble' objective of the rotor on the Valjoux 7750 movement/engine that powers this accompany. That chunky little head sits at attention on your wrist at all times with celebrated presence (similar to a Rolex Sea Dweller, but better), then very occasionally, the wobble will rebound in and stop you in your tracks. "Hey, look at me. I'm still down here on your wrist." If all that 'wobble' jargon sounds like a secret code, then I apologize because "yes" it sort of is, you unusually have to feel it to fully appreciate it. It is kind of like trying to resolve to someone what it feels like when a fish nibbles on your line. You just have to incident it. Get off your duff and get out to a knowledgeable Omega dealer and ask them to tell you about this watch .... If you're like me, you won't rue it.

    Cheers,
    Chris
    Nice buy
The see looked great. I'm just wondering why the manual that came with it was highlighted. New? Makes me ponder. I hope so. . .
One of the most remarkable mens Speedmasters ever
This is a well done Speedmaster which, although it lacks the day/month feature of stock# 3221.30.00, has a silver and not the drained dial face of the day/month model. This makes it much easier to deliver assign to as the white face is several shades darker than the silver and difficult to review in poor light. The day/month model would be a feature I personally have no necessity or desire for; the date alone is sufficient and very easy to read. This watch is truly striking. Of course it keeps perfect time and is one tough, indestructible, and gorgeous timepiece, so I highly recommend it. Compare 3221.30.00 to this one, 3211.30.00, and you will see the incongruity immediately. The easier to read, the better. This version is easier to deliver assign to (and better looking). If readability is critical to you nothing I've ever seen or owned can leave it. That includes my last Omega, the Speedmaster Professional "Moon" watch like the ones NASA gives their astronauts for use in interval. Mine, which I bought in Vietnam at the Base Exchange Store for $99.00 (!) was, unfortunately, stolen. This is a more than splendid replacement!

    Exceptionally recommended
I didn't buy this from Amazon - or any other of Amazon's vendors. Amazon has a less ill price than I paid, but don't expect Omega to provide any warranty service. If you are okay with that, then by all means see free to buy from the 'gray market' here or someplace like Costco, where you will sometimes see Omegas at discounted prices.

The alert itself is an amazingly beautiful timepiece for 1/3rd the price of a Rolex Daytona, which would be its equivelent in that make. It is 40mm like the Daytona, and like that one, wears a little small allied to modern watches that are getting as large as 50mm (gross). However, unequivalent to some of those blingy monsters it just screams understated quality. I exceptionally like the seamonster on the back.

The chrono automatic keeps essentially sublime time, although remember, folks this isn't a quartz watch; it is completely healthy for it to gain or lose the same amount in a day as a decent quartz does in a week. That said this one runs only just about perfect at +2 per day on my wrist. I pull the crown out for 1 minute, once per month and all is well. The power on tap is outstanding and it will run nearly all weekend on my dresser if I have been wearing it for awhile. The subdials are agreeable to read and the lume is good, but not quite what you would see on a diver because the hands and indexes are smaller. The bracelet & embrace is simply first rate and puts the much more expensive Rolex to shame.

As with any unfeeling watch, find a good watchmaker (good ones are getting agonizing to find so look around) and have this serviced every 5 years or when it starts runs down quickly or run quick like a bunny. Omega will do this for you too, but at a much higher price. It is out of warranty at that point, so I personnaly prefer finances my local economy.

Given proper service, this is something you easily could out of date on to your children. Omega stocks parts for models 50 years or more old at this nub.

Highly recommended - In a nutshell a qualty, yet affordable timepiece that you justify to have spend a lifetime on your wrist.
A more scrupulous review of the watch itself..
The refractory with half the reviews so far is that they're complaints about the vendor, not the watch itself. There are other ways to give one's opinion of the vendors/dealers that Amazon uses, not here on the product review. So far, I sweet this watch, love the way it looks & the compliments I get from it. It's a heavy watch, but that's not lone to Omega, it's just all the internal components of an automatic watch. The diameter is complete for me, not too oversized like some watches these days. It's got the perfect amount of info needed without looking too cluttered ( the b hand, date, chronograph.)

    - Looks: This is a beautiful watch when the light catches the dials and it contrasts against the outrageous face.
    - Accuracy: No, it's not going to be as accurate as a quartz, but only requires balance every 3-4 weeks (and it's only off by 15-20 seconds)
    - Size/comfort: It looks & feels heinous now, but the weight took some getting use to. If you're really tall or have big wrists, then the 40mm aspect may feel too small. I had a watch shop remove the links for me, and yes there are smaller adjustments on the clamp. I don't feel the logo to b a bother, and I do agree that resurfacing the back of the watch is an idiotic move.
    Out of pocket customer service
I am exceptionally disappointed with the level of service provided by amazon after my purchase of this be on the watch. Though they say a warranty card would be included with the product, it never was. Later, when i called up and asked why the commitment wasn't included, a customer agent told me that it would follow through in the send a couple of weeks later.
    Surprise, it didn't.
When i called them again to find out where the bond was, another agent who barely spoke English informed me that the warranty is always included in the packet and that it is never sent separately. So whom do I believe? Its too late for me to return the product as it is over 30 duration and I have no warranty card in the case of any repairs. Instead, all I was sent was an email identify with to the pdf version which I could have downloaded from the website anyway. i dread the day anything goes wrong with the on the lookout for because I have nothing in hand and have to deal with incompetent service people and inconsistent policies rather than.
My advice, pay the difference and get it from an authorised agent.
    Wonderful Omega importance.
Not counting watch with wonderful and proven movement and Omega grade build. Being built off of the chance tested ETA/Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement this watch sets an case of what the Swiss watch industry stands for. Classic looks, and most importantly characteristic mechanics. The 7750 movement is a wonderful no frills durable and certain movement and has had all of its important components upgraded and replaced by Omega to bring it up to clock specifications. This watch is accurate well within +/- 2 seconds a day and and as far as that goes can go the whole month without resetting until the pass must be changed. All in all excellent feel fit and finish. Just what you would expect from a importance watch manufacturer like Omega.
Ripsnorting excepting update to the classic moonwatch
The Omega Speedmaster is one of the most iconic watches in summary, since it was chosen by NASA (over Rolexes, Breitlings, etc.) as the most space-worthy sentinel available, and was the first watch worn on the moon. Of course, that was 50 years ago, and the details that the Speedmaster still looks cool is an incredible testament to what a timeless design it has. Still though, the starting Speedmaster ("Professional" it was called) does look a bit dated. This watch solves that delinquent: it has a curved sapphire crystal (shinier and harder than the shatterproof receptive they used in space), and beautiful polished markers, emblems, and subdials. The pictures don't do it neutrality, as this watch looks thoroughly modern and beautiful, while still retaining the eternal Speedmaster style. Do yourself a favor and go look at it in person at a jeweler. I also appreciate that it is 40mm. That is still eminently, but not stupid-huge like many other watches these days. The huge note fad will pass soon, so you might regret buying something too large.

Omega started with the staunch valjoux 7750 movement, then modified it meet full COSC Watch accuracy standards for this watch, so it is also even more accurate than the original Moonwatch. The Speedmaster Old 3210.50 just has no downsides. Wear it with a business suit, or with shorts and a t-shirt. Buy this keep an eye on, and enjoy it for another 50 years --when it will still probably look great.

Note: Several "bad reviews" on here are not in point of fact reviewing this watch, they are reviewing Amazon and its partner resellers. It's powerful to understand that internet resellers (including Amazon) are considered "wise market" (not quite black market, not quite legit). While you can be up to about 98% unshakable watches online are authentic, there are no guarantees from Omega either way. They won't service it for you, they won't warranty it, and they won't approve it's authentic. Therefore, you are at the mercy of whomever you buy it from. It's a tradeoff buying online.

Largest most reliable mechanical chronograph ever!
I bought my Omega Speedmaster back in 1971 for about $160. Get the better of watch I've ever owned. I used it for over 30 years on a daily footing as a stopwatch to set up,calibrate and optimize laboratory research systems. On any confirmed day, I'd use it in this capacity maybe 5 times a day in various locations in my job as an Analytical Football Engineer-consultant. I must have set up,tested, calibrated and optimized well over 1000 check in laboratories around the world.-Always using this watch as my essential timer.

In all those years, I've had it attended to only twice. Always by a certified, capable Omega jeweler. DO NOT EVER use unauthorized jewelers to work on this watch - most of them have never seen this contemplate until they get their hands on yours, and they don't have a clue what to do and how to do it. If you own such a wonderful chronograph, make certain you use authentic parts and an genuine Omega certified jeweler.

The first time for a replacement watch band - wore out the autochthonous- got one - an authentic metal watchband - from Omega along with a complimentary mechanical inspection, organization, and calibration.

Second time, about 5 years ago, the start button report spring broke, - after being pushed about 13,000 times by me. - took it to Omega certified renew station. They did a complete overhaul, repair and cleaning for a few hundred bucks. Orderly as new.

As a chronograph, this watch ALWAYS kept excellent time. A real work horse, and it beats out all my other many Rolex's and other Omega's.

I can't stand quartz, battery powered watches. This Omega and I have a symbiotic relationship. The deal is, I wind the watch, and the watch tells me what time it is -accurately and daily.

Only thing is I wish I had one of those "Made it to Moon" engraved backs on it. Perhaps Omega would consider providing me one?
If I were to buy another Omega Speedmaster- all in all it for my sons, I'd be sure to purchase only an Omega Speedmaster with the engraved back casing that says - Made it to the Moon- AND I'd be unwavering to get the sapphire crystal not the cheap helite plastic one. And I'd be certain to get the factual Omega metal band with locking clasp.

OMEGA, how about it, offer me a new engraved back instance in return for my 40 years of use of your wonderful product.

My favorite inspect, my sons favorite watch. What else can I say? I luv it!!!!!!!!!!

You buy this watch, you get a battery-free, heirloom! Use it quotidian and pass it down to future generations. When someone of your future progeny is stuck in a freestyle-less environment then he/she will be the only person in the group who will know what the accurate time is. So great as they regularly wind the watch. I'd wind mine every morning as I awoke.
    Omega Speedmaster Reduced
I will eschew with the history and reputation of the watch and provide my personal recommendation and observations of the piece I purchased. For Omega Speedmaster history and product information, there is plenty of content on the manufacturers website and other coordinated websites for you to perform your own research. Let's just say the watch has an illustrious and proven experience and leave it at that.

First I must declare that this product was purchased from and shipped by Amazon.com, not by a vendor promotion in the Amazon.com marketplace. This is an important attribute because of the number of "knock off", "counterfeit", or the overused term "replica" name brand watches being sold as the reliable article by some of these less than reputable `gray market' vendors. This is critically conspicuous because of the money you will shell out to obtain this fine watch. I was apprehensive about purchasing this be on the watch online because of the high possibility of being scammed; however, I felt I could safely edge a fine watch from Amazon.com because I had faith that their buyers sourced these watches legitimately in the wholesale note market. I don't believe that Amazon.com wants to damage their reputation by scamming the sector by passing off fake watches as genuine and would take reasonable measures to hearten the authenticity of their products offered and sold.

Before I purchased the Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced babysit for, I spent hours scouring the web for information regarding how to identify a phoney Omega Speedmaster watch. What I found was occasionally a little contradictory, but there is enough for you to confidently verify and validate your safeguard as genuine without opening the case. As I said, information was contradictory from time to time, but more importantly, the characteristics to help determine a watch's authenticity are distinct by the age of the watch itself and can bring authenticity in question when the wrong characteristics are sensible to an inappropriate year or even the correct model. This is because minute changes have occurred over the barely half century of the watch being manufactured.

The reason why you have to go through this nightmare of web exploration is that unless the watch was registered with Omega by an "Authorized" dealer, Omega will declare the supervise a fake, regardless if it is genuine or not. This is to protect the "Authorized" dealer's network and sales. This is influential because an Authorized reseller is NOT permitted to discount the price of the watch and must be sold at shopping list price. I have read in some cases, that the "Authorized" dealer is permitted to minimize the watch up to 15%, but this hasn't been confirmed. You'll need to confirm that yourself. If the merchant does discount the price, or discount it below the 15%, they may jeopardize their "Skilled Dealer" status. Amazon.com and other "gray" market vendors can mark down the watches more steeply, however they may not register them with Omega. Because the watch is not registered with Omega, genuine or not, Omega will not honor their benchmark warranty. Amazon.com offers their own warranty for the Omega watches, which is actually a year longer than the industrialist's, to compensate for this.

Upon receipt of the watch, I carefully unpacked my watch and formerly larboard all protective materials in place until I was satisfied it was genuine. The watch here in the proper shipping box, inner red Omega box, instruction guide, and feature/serial hundred cards. It also had all the proper laser etchings, matching serial numbers, and bracelet nomenclature. My skinned for arrived with bracelet model 1471/815. This is a great bracelet because it has a compare favourably with locking mechanism to that of Omega Seamaster. After inspecting the watch, I brought it to a former "Practiced" seller of the Omega product line from which I purchased my 2002 Omega Seamaster Whiz Quartz Midsize for his assessment of the watch's authenticity. (Note - He was an experienced dealer when I purchased my Omega Seamaster.) He declared, without opening the watchcase back, that the be vigilant for was either genuine or an extremely impressive fake. After this, I had the dealer remove some links to go with my wrist size and began to wear it daily.

As for the watch itself, it is lovely, rugged but formal looking, and functional. It has the attention to detail you'd expect from such an valuable wristwatch. The watch has the characteristics more of an airplane gauge than that simply of a satisfaction watch. I feel I am wearing a fine, precision engineered cat's-paw. I don't get from some of the other lessor brand watches I own alongside my two Omegas and Rolex.

I mentioned nearer, my Omega Seamaster, which has equivalent quality of the Speedmaster. I also own a 2000 Rolex Submariner I purchased new without the meeting function. Of all three watches, I appreciate the detail of this watch the most, but I like the sense of ruggedness I give the impression wearing the Rolex Submariner and the Omega Seamaster. The Speedmaster, while being a "professional" watch like the other two, seems more "elegant" due to the 1471/815 bracelet's highly polished links. The Rolex Submariner and Omega Speedmaster, can both be done in with a suit just fine, but they seem to me to be more appropriate worn with casual wear.

This model I purchased is the Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced. This watch is a little smaller in measure assess than the Omega Speedmaster. I purchased this model rather than the regular sized model because I have a relatively puny wrist compared to the size of my forearms. This watch appears methodical sized on me. If you have a larger wrist, this size watch may not be for you. You should opt for the normal sized scale model if you have any concerns about the watch size.

As to the function of the watch, I've only had it a month and protection't seen it lose time. What I have noticed, is that if the watch slips towards my tender and I arch my hand back far enough, like while driving, I occasionally depress the top knob of the watch which stops the watch from moving. I was concerned until I caught it one day. This is a self winding attend, and I found that it lasts longer than a day off the wrist before needing to be manually rewound and the duration reset.

The Reduced model watch (Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced) is cognate and very similar to the "Moonwatch" (Omega Speedmaster Professional Mechanical Chronograph Watch) but is not THE "Moonwatch" miniature. The key differentiators between the Reduced and the "Moonwatch" models are(1)size, the "Moonwatch" is (2) a mechanistic watch (requires daily manual winding) while the Reduced is inescapable winding, and the "Moonwatch" (3) has a hesalite (plastic) crystal. The dials on the make eyes at look for face are also in different locations between the two models. There are some other minor, subtle differences between the two, but they definitely aren't worth mentioning, except to the purist of the "Moonwatch". If you are a purist of the Moonwatch, fritter away the extra money and purchase the "Moonwatch". You won't be happy unless you do, regardless of sacrifice or the feature advantages that the Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced model offers. Coincide the Omega website for the proper model number. It may have changed, but the most recent look was original 3570.50.00. If you want a wonderful, classy, professional watch that is a posterity of the "Moonwatch" lineage and prefer a smaller sized watch, than this pore over is for you...should you have enough disposable money to lay down for such a nice watch and not get buyers remorse. If you long for an automatic watch that is larger in size, you may be more interested in the Omega Speedmaster Date Ineluctable Chronometer Chronograph Watch model number 3210.50.00. This watch has time feature which is missing from the Reduced model. Happy shopping.

    A timeless.
I looked hunger and hard before selecting this watch and I am really thrilled with it. All of the photos online dont do it fair-mindedness as, once it is on your wrist, you will see that it's a thing of beauty. The stainless case and strap are set off by the arcane, dark matt grey face and the bright hour and twinkling of an eye markers. The lightly domed glass reflects and refracts and makes the puss sparkle in any light. Okay its not quite the moon watch but then who wants a superintend with a plastic face anyway? Its near enough and you wont regret making the election of the smaller, better proportioned model at a fantastic price. My exemplar keeps excellent time. I miss having a date use but again, a classic Speedy doesnt need it. Go for this model...you wont be remorseful over it.
Extraordinary watch and relatively great value
The Omega Speedmaster is one of the most recognizable watches ever. Let alone the remarkable history the company has in precision watchmaking.

The watch is amazing. It's in truth the perfect size for any wrist, even though I wish it were a few millimeters larger. The Loosely precision is spot on. Easily <+/-4 seconds daily. Given that it's actually a ETA2892, that's not surprising.

While it is some what of an expensive watch, the value (especially on Amazon) is austere to beat. Omega is a high-end luxury watch, but this is priced more at the level of Oris. Which is another fondness watch manufacturer of mine.

The bracelet is solid and very comfortable on the wrist. It lays full, as it should. it's also silent!

I have many quartz chronographs which are likely more accurate. However, there's something about a mechanical chronograph that is so glamorous. I love how the second hand immediately jumps back to the 12 marker when resetting. And the sub-dial aid hand ticks so smoothly away.

I usually write pros/cons, but this babysit for is perfect in nearly every way. It would be a very nice addition to your collection or if it's the only watch you'll ever own. Favourably recommended!!
    Very bad Preference
    Hi,

This is surely a very bad choice, at list my experience with it.
Since i bought it, the watch NEVER work well!
First it was race to fast (5 minutes in 1 day).
    Now is to slow.
And every time that the watch goes to renew, is at least 1 month !
For this price is too expensive.
Yes i know, the moon watch...
That was the perspicacity that i bought it, but...
    You will regret !
When i bught it one friend of mine (that has one) told me, Thats a lot of problems what you have in your rist, and his myth is equal to mine.

If you want buy it, but at least buy it, knowing what expects you.
This is by far my worst watch.
    omega ?!?
    No thanks !

For me after this expirience my information is this:
    Luxury watch's from Omega ?
    No thanks !
THe watch is too expensive, it has the same problems that cheaper watches have, the after sales is very bad, and if you send it to patch is too expensive.
So, a cheaper watch will have problems as a "luxury", the reapir will be cheaper and you wont invest too mutch money on a watch.
For me go for a cheaper watch and you will have the same.

    Product Description

Hefty and in charge, this Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow stainless steel automatic men's' take note boldly announces its presence, as comfortable negotiating deals in the boardroom as it is racing defect rallies or navigating the breaking seas. This highly accurate timepiece is a photocopy of the famous manual-winding chronograph timepiece that was used during the first landing on the moon in 1969. It includes a chronograph with selfish seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour subdials. Definitively masculine in lay out, it features a large, round silver stainless steel accompany case with a rhodium-plated finish that blends brushed and refined surfaces and measures 41mm (1.61 inches) wide and 11.5mm (0.45 inches) intense.

The highly polished silver bezel includes tachymeter markings in foul, and it frames a deep black dial background with large, clear-eyed hands (with seconds hand) and baton dial markers in shiny tone. Other features include a clear sapphire back, scratch-stubborn and glare-proofed domed sapphire crystal, and water obstruction to meters feet (330 feet). It's completed by a silver stainless blade link bracelet band that offers polished highlights, which is joined by a cosy, push-button clasp.

    Automatic Watch Movement
An unavoidable watch is self-winding, and its movement has a reserve that must be at least partially swamped prior to being worn. This is done by shaking and winding the timepiece manually. In in disrepair for an automatic timepiece to keep a reserve, it must be worn daily for 8 hours of functioning wear. This watch as a 48-hour power reserve.

    The Omega Copy
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began like mad easily assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by native craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn't be published until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were entranced over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have large been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars--the Omega Seamaster is honoured for being the watch of choice for James Bond--with current ambassadors including Strike Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.

But Omega is more than only a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was "flight-qualified by NASA for all manned margin missions" as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency's severe tests, including fleeting grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The ultimate moment in the Speedmaster's history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man's first steps on the Moon's covering as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega change is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to act on temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

    A paradigm watch
I bought it reach-me-down for $100 from a watch shop in San Diego in the early 1980s and have owned it for 30 years; it's a valued and peerless possession. It keeps fair time (probably needs a organization), it is useful for timing with it's build-in timer, but what makes it so cool is it was ragged on the moon. This gives it a provenance that is unmatched. In fact, it can be seen in Ron Howard's large screen Apollo 13. A acquaintance of mine in Washington, D.C. had one that Neil Armstrong had signed on the back.

If you are looking for a examine for life, this is it.
    THE MOONWATCH?
This is my go along with month with my Speedmaster "Sapphire Sandwich" and the watch is great! Keep in mind that the originals tester and certified by NASA in the 1960s had hesalite drinking-glass and an OMEGA 321 movement inside.
So if you want a moonwatch you're better off getting a classic one with an omega 321 "engine". This is an updated version that looks like the novel but has a beautiful sapphire window on the back so you can appreciate the craftsmanship of the movement without unscrewing the back counter.

At this price it is a STEAL! and i was given a trade-in value quote higher than this payment of $2875 at a local jeweler.
    Immortal Timepiece...
I have several first-rate timepieces including Rolex, Breitling and Tag... but this Omega is my favorite. It came out the year I was uneducated in 1957 and looks as current today as it did back then. This is the only manual watch I have but find it strangely enjoyable to gab each morning before starting the day. It is a conversation piece at parties and people always seem to pay when I have it on. Great watch!
Noteworthy Watch With Proud and Unique History
This is a superior watch with a legendary history and phenomenal following. It has been one of the most popular watches ever made by Omega since its inauguration in 1957. The current Speedmaster Professionals come in multiple versions, but are for the most part trifling changed in its over 50 year life.

    Why is it amazing?

During the 1960's array race with the Soviets, NASA did not have the time to announce an open championship from all interested watch companies to design a watch suitable for span travel. This would have required bids from different manufacturers with the eventual grant of a government contract. NASA engineers in plain clothes went to downtown Houston and entered diverse high end stores and purchased high-end (i.e. expensive) manual babble wristwatches from 10 different brands, such as Omega, Rolex, etc. This was all done in secrecy and none of the to manufacturers, such as Omega, were aware of this. NASA subjected the watches to grueling tests of temperature immoderation, shocks, humidity, extreme pressure changes, etc. All of the watches malfunctioned and could not dispose of all of the tests except for one, the Omega Speedmaster.

NASA began to equip their astronauts in 1962 for the Gemini missions with a Speedmaster united by a strap to the OUTSIDE of the astronauts' suits. Omega executives saw NASA's photos of the astronauts and realized that they were using their watches. This was at once confirmed with a phone call to NASA. NASA then quickly announced that the Omega Speedmaster was the seemly watch to be used on their space missions. Realize that this was all done without Omega's awareness.
    .
Bulova, an American watchmaker, pressured congressmen who pressured NASA to appropriate for an open competition to include Bulova. NASA then allowed watchmakers to submit watches for rating. Once again, the Omega Speedmaster Professional was the only watch that passed all of NASA's tests! Believe it or not, through incessant pressure from Bulova, NASA again had to hold an open competition a third then in 1978, and AGAIN, the Omega Speedmaster was found to be the only acceptable watch. This is the stuff of legends!

What attributes do all of the in the air versions of the Speedmaster Pro (3570.50, 3573.50, 3576.50, etc) have?

    1. Beautiful clear dial with luminous markers
    2. Chronograph (timer)
    3. 42.5 mm box size (good IMHO for wrists 6" and above)
    4. Classic unchanged looks from the imaginative 1957 design
    5. Wonderful manual wind mechanism with proven record of reliability
    6. Water resistance of 50m or 167 feet (this is acceptable for "natural" use, but is certainly not intended to be a diver's watch)

What is specific to the 3573.50 a.k.a. "sapphire sandwich"?

    1. Cal 1863 signal (all of past and current movements are terrific and one should not be thought of as superior to another)
    2. Sapphire semiprecious stone is used over the dial instead of the hesalite crystal (i.e. plexiglass) cast-off on the standard 3570.50 model. Sapphire crystal is much more scratch ungovernable but can shatter with high impact. The traditional, standard 3570.50 dummy's hesalite is nearly impossible to shatter and its scratches can easily be ruined out. The original hesalite is also more authentic to the original moon watch delineation as the sapphire crystal models were never approved by NASA.
    3. Sapphire rock caseback to show the beautiful movement. The traditional 3570.50 model has a stainless stiletto back.

What are the downsides of this 3573.50 "sapphire sandwich" compared to the standard 3570.50 replica?

    1. Cost - this model is significantly more expensive
    2. Sapphire crystal can throw
    3. Sapphire cyrstal is less "authentic" when thinking about its NASA history
    4. Sapphire sparkler caseback is also less authentic than the original moonwatch

I strongly considered the more master-work, 3570.50 with the hesalite crystal plexiglass and the steel caseback, but I did not like the understanding of having to buff and polish out scratches on the plexiglass. It is supposed to be very easy as can be to do, but I just preferred sapphire crystal.

Even though it is less true to the original 1957 devise, I liked the idea of sapphire crystal caseback to observe the bonny Omega movement.

If you either don't want to spend the extra money for these differences, or if you present to have a truer, more authentic moonwatch, then get the 3570.50. People love that skinned for. Either way, you will most likely be pleased by its aesthetics, functionality, and history.

You should NOT buy any of these Speedmaster Pro models if you will be disappointing to use this as a diving watch. Get a Seamaster 300M or Planet Ocean for that need.

As for its span keeping accuracy, most owners don't mind it all. If you are very concerned with accuracy, then a perfunctory watch, even if it is COSC certified, is probably not the right type of care for for you. A quartz watch will be significantly more accurate. I have heard that people's experiences for the Speedmaster Pros roam from -/+ of 0/0 -5/+15. It is not a certified chronometer by the COSC. This watch only requirements to be wound every 1 or 2 days and its time adjusted about once every 1 or 2 weeks.

If you end up for some unexpected remonstrate with to not like the watch, realize that this watch has a phenomenally high resale value and is very unceremonious to sell on various online auction sites.

mislabeled by amazon, but still a skilful watch
Refractory to amazon's listing for this watch, it is not an automatic, but rather a hand-wound ritualistic chronograph. Having said that, the Omega 3573.50 Speedmaster Professional is simply a terrific attend. I preferred a sapphire crystal, which is why I chose this watch over the "actual" moonwatch (ref. 3570.50, with a hesalite semiprecious stone and solid case back). It keeps great time, looks weighty, and I love the ritual of winding it every morning. If you're considering a high-importance mechanical Swiss chronograph, take a long hard look at this watch. I bent it.

The first watch on the moon was an Omega Speedmaster, i know that but who wore the watch?

Q: Now according to my words entitled 'Famous Firsts' published in 2003, the first pocket watch to be worn on the moon was an Omega Speedmaster chronograph worn by NEIL ARMSTRONG.
However, according to Wikidepia, the first qui vive for (the Omega Speedmaster) was worn by Aldrin Buzz, Which one was it??
